Marc Romboy - ContrastTitle: Contrast Artist: Marc Romboy Release: 06th June 2008 Label: Systematic Recordings Web: www.systematic-recordings.com “Contrast” the name of this album is short but really the right one. With this one word everything is said about this exception-album. Marc Romboy built with his second album a bridge between Detroit Techno and Chigaco in a way that wasn’t done before. “Contrast” owns this rough and straight sound that’s been lost for so many years, by using the ingredients that people forget about. A futuristic vision manifested in raw synthesizer sounds straight outta space from far away solar systems, a big portion of soul by the appearance of House legends like K-Alexi, Chelonis R. Jones or Blake Baxter. Marc mixes together classic Techno and House music in a never heard before way, he breaths new life in this forgotten interpretation of music. This is not history repeating, this is the discovery of the Holy Grail. I know that this comparison may sound too greasy or extreme for you. But believe me lately after the second track “Fly Away” you will share my view. No cheats, no double bottom, Marc is an honest producer! He brings things to the point. Soul mixed with machines - sounds easy! But the secret is in my opinion that Marc allows the machines to express them their own personality. You know he let them sound in the way they were built for: Straight and warm. So you ask: And where can I find the personality of the composer in tracks? In the complete work - “Contrast” is a masterpiece, made by a person who lives and loves the music he life’s for. Marc learned that this music needs its space and I am sure that this will thanked so in a nomination for the best Techno album 2008! Not to rate - it’s too good! |
