Mad Ep - Bass.hedTitle: Bass.hed Artist: Mad Ep Release: April 2008 Label: Ad Noiseam Web:www.adnoiseam.net www.mad-ep.com The fourth album from Mad EP is a surprising one. After the release of “Not Afraid Of The Spiders” a crazy mixture of Classic, Hip-Hop, IDM, Experimental and the three disc masterpiece “Madlands Triology” Mad EP reminisce about his roots where things started. Hip-Hop and Bass! It's been stated in the press text that this album was the longest to complete, begun years ago. Believe it or not, you can hear and feel it, not in a negative way, I mean this album is besides its musically perfectionism like a good wine. You can hear that it had its time to breathe.. Bass.hed is an outstanding album that will unite friends of intelligent Hip-Hop and people who love IDM. It's balanced and sounds content. Mad Ep focused himself more on bass, low frequencies and Hip-Hop. Besides Mad Ep's virtuous violin play it offers more lyrics with the appearance of Non Genetic and Breaff of the Shadowhuntaz, Akila Fa Hun from Puppetmastaz, Jadah and The Gutterbyrds. This is different to its forerunners. But the fascinating fact about this album is how Mad EP created a kind of laid-back stomach kicking atmosphere. Not that kind of hectic low frequencies music you know from Drum and Bass or Dubstep. Straight out the hips without any hectic attitude, intelligent and perfectly produced. So in this case the statement: an album with deepness owns a double meaning. With every release Mad EP surprises the listener - this time with a sound near to the streets combined with his notion of modern intelligent electronica. A fascinating and wonderful album - a must have, not just for the fans of great talented Mad EP. |
