This album came to my desk out of the blue with wonderful stamps from the island Hellas on its envelope. Blackfilm from Britian...cool name I thought.. I must admit I put it aside and forget it in a deck of reviews...
Then after a hard week having stress at my day job I put this cd out of the pack and marvelled at the mystic and beautiful artwork of the album. So I put it in my bag to listen to this cd on my way to work next day.

Next day was rainy morning and the traffic in direction Cologne very close. So I put “Blackfilm” into the CD player…
After a dark and impressive intro a thunderstorm of natural Jazz drums started and experimental sounds flavoured with guitar sounds created a stunning soundscape.
This track exceeds all my expectations! This combination of multiple soundlayers and rhythmic fragments draw a beautiful picture in black and white, the colours must be added by the personal perception of the listener. After such a brilliant start I became curious if the music on this album can fulfil its own level. The next track comes along with violins and a piano carried by a Hip Hop beat. Amazing! Blackfilm handles genres playfully and combines them to a new never heard before sound collage. From contemporary music fragments to experimental, Hip Hop beats to Drum and Bass there are no boundaries. Rhythmic Score music with a deep effect soul touching on the listener. Dark but not pessimistic, music with a story and personality. Filed and intelligent arranged. Even if you aren’t so much into experimental music I can approve this enthralling and beautiful album 100% to you!
One of the fascinating new discovery’s in 2008!
